FAQ
What is this, exactly?
These are completely virtual mystery boxes that function as standalone stories. They contain online "materials" you can use to piece together clues to solve a murder - the kinds of materials you'd find in a physical mystery box, but without the shipping costs or waiting times!
Well, what is a mystery box?
A mystery box contains documents and miscellaneous items used to solve a fictional murder. Often, the stories are serial, so a bunch of boxes lead up to one conclusion. Our games follow a similar model, but everything is completely online and none are serial. That means you can play as few or as many individual games as you want.
How do you play?
Each game has its own set of materials you can cross-reference to draw a conclusion about who committed a murder, how, and why.*
*Important note: There is always one, concrete answer. Be sure to rule out everyone except whodunit. If you don't have conclusive evidence to back up who you believe the murderer to be, look through the materials again. There may be something you've missed!
Do I need to download anything?
Nope! Everything you need is posted right here on the site.
Do I need to know anything specific?
Nope. No particular knowledge sets are needed, just logical thinking.
(Although, the occasional Google search for general worldly information may help you in certain situations.)
How long do they take?
Up to you! There's no time limit or timed aspect, so you can sink into them piece by piece throughout the day. Or you can do it all in one go. They could take anywhere from a half-hour to two hours if you do it that way, depending on the game's difficulty. See the star ratings on the "Boxes" page. Our starter box is a quick one that gives you a good taste of what the games offer - but the games only get more difficult from there ...
How many people do I need?
The games are designed for solo players. Of course, you're more than welcome to crack the cases alongside friends.
